The novelties of the Salone del Mobile 2023
Finally the Salone del Mobile, the most important international design fair, after the hard period of postponements due to the pandemic, returns as usual from 18 to 23 April at Fiera Milano Rho with 1,962 exhibitors, including over 550 young talents under 35 and 27 design schools. Thus, once again this year its path of transformation and evolution continues, characterized by an extremely innovative exhibition format capable of responding to the most urgent challenges of the contemporary design sector. So much so that this year, thanks to a single exhibition level, the Salone del Mobile will be more usable for visitors, buyers and insiders, more attractive for exhibitors and more sustainable for the environment.
Salone del Mobile 2023: the year dedicated to light and lighting
One of the most important novelties of the Salone del Mobile 2023 is Euroluce, the biennial exhibition dedicated to the whole world of lighting, which this year will also have a cultural and multidisciplinary style . This will be distinguished by the circular route, a layout designed by Lombardini22, usable in several directions, in which there will be cultural and experiential spaces, from talk on art and architecture, to installations site- specific, up to actual workshops . In this way, a better connection between the four pavilions will be guaranteed, with a more fluid visit itinerary in which the exhibitors have greater visibility. The layout developed by the Lombardini22 studio , not surprisingly, is inspired by the spatiality of Italian urban centres, presenting itself as “the new city of light, with an irregular circular route, with a fluid and free shape”.
In fact, the traditional reticulated path, this year, as anticipated, will be replaced at Euroluce 2023, by a curvilinear circuit in which it will also be possible to find relaxation areas where you can relax when you are tired , specially designed for recharge the batteries and enjoy visiting mini-exhibitions, works and installations created by artists and designers on the theme of light. Voices of different artists and curators, conveyed in one place to create a multidisciplinary project that from design opens up to dialogue with other worlds of creativity , from that of architecture, to that of installation, up to that of painting, sculpture and photography.
What will the 24th SaloneSatellite hosted within Euroluce be like?
The SaloneSatellite founded in 1998 and now in its 24th edition is the appointment dedicated to designer under 35 . There will be more than 550 guests in pavilions 13-15 of Euroluce. This year's theme is aimed at schools and universities and is called “Design Schools – Universities / BUILDING THE (IM)POSSIBLE. Process, Progress, Practice”. This is because the Salone wants to underline the indelible contribution that these institutions continue to make to the training of new designers, and to the development of design. Again, in fact, it is the arrangement of the exhibition spaces has been renewed , which sees the 27 schools placed in a perimeter ring that embraces the individual designers. The SaloneSatellite Award, now in its 12th edition, will not be missing
The certification of sustainable event
In addition to the structural innovations of the Fair with the important work on quality, to focus on the needs of visitors and exhibitors, in January 2023 the Salone del Mobile received the certification ISO20121 which makes it a sustainable event. A real reality that works with constancy and dedication on the theme of sustainability while respecting specific criteria in the different sectors . Furthermore, by transparently sharing one's own path with all the stakeholders , including exhibitors and fitters, the organization of the Salone del Mobile fair allows everyone to align with the defined guidelines. It is no coincidence that, just like Assoarredo, the Salone del Mobile also has a portal featuring an archive of the various suppliers and sustainable materials, which comply with the established guidelines.
The data collected by the Centro Studi FederlegnoArredo
